US doubles down on AI infrastructure

Strengthening America’s AI backbone

👋 Good morning/evening (wherever you are). It’s Thursday.

The US is taking a major step to secure its AI future.

The National Science Foundation has launched the Integrated Data Systems and Services program to connect data, computing, and research tools, while adding 10 new datasets to the NAIRR pilot.

This investment could determine how quickly US researchers, startups, and universities stay ahead in the global AI race.

OK let’s keep going ↓

🔥 Creative pulse

This is the last VOIDLINK AI sci-fi video I’ll ever share. If anyone knows who is behind this alias, please connect me. You can reply to this email or DM me on socials.

Anyways, VOIDLINK only made three videos, and I’ve already posted the other two. Fittingly, this was the very first upload…and it’s a calm, thought-provoking watch.

PS: If you’re passionate (and obsessed) about AI creative…guess what?! I just launched an AI creative club. It’s only $5/month. Skip the Big Mac and use it for this instead. I’m serious, you’ll thank me later. Click here to join.

We have a great thread in the club on upscalers and I picked up some solid new tips too.

One advice, tip, or connection here could change your life. Learn more.

💡 Here’s what you should know

  • Microsoft announces two in-house AI models

MAI-Voice-1 adds natural speech to Copilot, while MAI-1-preview begins public testing as a new foundation model for future Copilot features.

  • Claude users get option to share data for training

Users on Claude Free, Pro, and Max plans can now choose whether their data helps train future models, with extended retention up to five years if enabled or the existing 30-day period if not.

  • Volkswagen and AWS expand collaboration on factory AI

The Digital Production Platform connects 43 factories worldwide, using cloud and AI to cut costs, improve efficiency, and lay the groundwork for software-defined vehicles.

  • Entry-level jobs shrink as AI grows

A Stanford study shows employment for 22-25 year-olds in AI-exposed sectors has fallen 13% since 2022, reducing pathways for young workers.

  • AI agents gain procedural memory

Zhejiang University and Alibaba researchers introduced Memp, a framework that lets agents reuse experiences to complete complex tasks more efficiently.

  • AI fatigue sets in

A LinkedIn survey finds nearly half of US professionals feel unprepared for AI and 41% say the pace of change is hurting their well-being.

  • AI simulates Mount Fuji eruption for disaster prep

Japanese officials released AI-generated videos showing how a violent Fuji eruption could blanket Tokyo in ash within hours, part of a campaign to boost preparedness for the city’s 37 million residents.

💰 The numbers

  • Nvidia projects global AI infrastructure spending to hit $3-4T by decade’s end, even as its revenue growth slows.

  • Lovable is fielding funding offers that value the Swedish AI startup at over $4B.

  • FriendliAI raised $20M in a seed extension to scale its AI inference platform.

🧠 Thought starters

If Elon is talking in H100 equivalents, you can bet every major lab and exec is doing the same math.

Nvidia’s real influence isn’t in chips, it’s in making those chips the world’s unit of measurement for AI.

And with Jensen Huang putting China at a $50B market growing 50% a year, that measurement now decides the global game.

😂 Meme of the day

C’mon now…really?! 💀 Keep it up and a robot will jump out the drive-through window, open your door, and blast you with a fire hose. (Screenshot: WSJ)
