Test this AI tool right now (it's free)
Seriously...I can't believe this is free.
Good morning/evening (wherever you are). I often get asked “what’s the best AI tool?” I know it’s a cop out answer…but it really depends. Are you just curious about AI in general or do you want to use AI to make more money (or something else)? I’ll explain more as we get to know each other in future newsletters…because your preference will affect the trajectory of your personal and professional life. But first, let’s catch up on what’s been going on in the wild world of AI.
Here’s the quick summary:
OpenAI Deep Research is now available for GPT Plus, Team, Edu, and Enterprise tiers - 10 queries per month compared to 120 queries for the $200/month Pro subscription.
Read more about it here. If you only test one AI thing/tool today…test this. It will give you a strong idea of what’s going on with AI chatbots. Depending on your existing biases, it will either shock or scare you.
^The above is so important that I’m completely OK with you skipping the rest of the email. “Genius knowledge is infinite and free” is an idea that you must remember. We’ll continue exploring this theme in the future.
The numbers:
Scientists took years to solve a problem that AI cracked in 2 days (TMN)
Chegg’s stock price is down 90% since ATHs in early 2021. Many predicted this when GPT started to gain traction, including Chegg’s team that mentioned it on previous earnings calls. Unfortunately, it has now reached the point where it’s too much…and yesterday, Chegg sued Alphabet, saying Google AI has essentially killed their business (R)
What else?
Alibaba’s Tongyi Lab released an AI creative model called Wan 2.1
There’s some interesting physics results…but still has noticeable flaws. Btw every AI creative company/platform is trying to get real-world physics and motion dynamics correct. Here’s a hint: no one has solved it yet (consistently).
Don’t listen to others hyping Wan 2.1. Most artists using AI in their workflows still heavily prefer Veo, MiniMax, Kling 1.6, and Sora.
Claude plays Pokemon on Twitch
More details on Anthropic’s X account (read the entire thread). Alright…so AI can play an outdated game, big deal. But, here’s the thing…eventually it will be able to start and complete more important “games”.
This one caught me off guard…because most experienced creatives will still prefer the desktop version. But, you have to keep in mind that Adobe also has an AI creative tool (Firefly) and as expected, the mobile version of PS will come w/ a whole bunch of AI features.
Apparently, Android is coming soon.
Everyone wants to buy Nvidia H20 chips
Alibaba, ByteDance (TikTok), and Tencent have boosted H20 purchases. You can thank DeepSeek for making low-cost AI models go viral. I may write a long-form essay on this when I’m really bored…but the arrival of DeepSeek is one of the most significant events in the history of AI (whether that’s truly good or bad).
Luma adds free audio generation to DreamMachine
You may be familiar with MMAudio, which can analyze your video content and generate “perfectly” matched audio. Well…Luma also has this, and I believe all the popular AI creative platforms will adopt a similar approach.
Thought starters:
What happens when two AI voice assistants have a conversation?
This went viral on X…it got out of control and Boris Starkov posted on LinkedIn to clarify some questions (read his post)
Thanks for reading,
