🧠 Thought starters
OpenAI has acquired Roi, a personal finance app built on hyper-personalization. The service will shut down October 15, with only CEO Sujith Vishwajith joining the company.
Roi’s core innovation was showing how AI can adapt tone, style, and recommendations to each individual user.
That approach fits with OpenAI’s broader push into consumer products like Pulse, Sora, and Instant Checkout, where personalization is becoming the critical differentiator.
This is the latest in a string of acqui-hires including Context.ai, Crossing Minds, and Alex.
Together they point to a clear strategy:
OpenAI is assembling talent and ideas around personalization and adaptive companions, moving well beyond its API roots into full-stack consumer experiences.
I’m excited to announce that Roi has been acquired by OpenAI!
We started Roi 3 years ago to make investing accessible to everyone by building the most personalized financial experience. Along the way we realized personalization isn’t just the future of finance. It’s the future
