Meta's new AI app
Can it compete with ChatGPT?
👋 Good morning/evening (wherever you are). It’s Tuesday.
Meta has released a new standalone app for Meta AI, powered by Llama 4. The app supports both voice and text conversations and includes tools like image generation, editing, and a Discover feed to explore how others are using AI.
But will people use it?
ChatGPT is to AI assistants what Google is to search, Zoom was to video calls during COVID, or Kleenex is to tissues.
Becoming the mental model and category leader matters — a lot. And if I had to bet, ChatGPT still holds the top spot. It will take something massive to unseat it.
For now, Meta is still best known for Facebook and Instagram.
OK let’s keep going ↓

Thought starters:
Whether or not it’s accurate, the fact that we’re not shocked by this says a lot:
Cursor writes almost 1 billion lines of accepted code a day.
To put it in perspective, the entire world produces just a few billion lines a day.
