Genie 3 builds worlds from text

DeepMind’s new AI creates real‐time interactive environments

👋 Good morning/evening (wherever you are). It’s Tuesday.

DeepMind’s latest update is pretty mind-blowing.

Genie 3 can take a simple prompt and generate an explorable world in real time. Walk forest trails, chase jellyfish in the deep sea, or wander surreal floating landscapes, all at 24 fps.

Why this is big news:

  • Real time exploration: Move through AI generated worlds like a game.

  • Dynamic behavior: Rivers flow, weather changes, and wildlife moves.

  • Consistent memory: Objects and environments hold together for about a minute.

  • Promptable events: Add storms, creatures, or new landmarks instantly.

  • Training potential: These environments are ideal for AI agents to learn and act in infinite simulations.

The fine print:

  • Runs at 720p and lasts only a few minutes (which is still incredible).

  • Memory is roughly one minute before small errors appear.

  • Physics and multi agent logic are still early and it’s not a full game engine.

Why it matters (and what’s next):

This is the first time an AI world model feels alive and interactive. It’s an early look at AI that can learn and experiment inside the worlds it creates, and a preview of what gaming, robotics, and AGI research will look like in the next few years.

We’re not ready for the holodeck…

OK let’s keep going ↓

Here’s a quick, isolated example of how advanced Genie 3 is.

It can take a single prompt and create an interactive, playable world.

🧠 Thought starters

Synchron showed a user with ALS controlling an iPad with their thoughts using the Stentrode brain implant and Apple’s new BCI protocol.

It’s not AI by itself, but brain‑computer input could be the missing link for AI assistants you control just by thinking.
