ChatGPT-4.5 (All the details)

Here's the truth.

Good morning/evening (wherever you are). I almost hit SEND on this email but had to wait on 2 things. The first was quickly downing my afternoon americano (all black). The second, was waiting for more info on GPT-4.5 AND the official release details so you could have a link. Yes, you’re welcome.

Too lazy to click that link? I don’t blame ya, here’s the eval scores. In short, it’s an overall improvement but nothing mind-blowing, and it really depends on what you want to use it for. Otherwise, most of you will hardly be able to tell the difference.

Here’s another big topic:

  • Amazon + Anthropic = Alexa+

    • Wait a second…so we’re OK with AI searching through our home security videos and controlling a bunch of things like music, tv, etc.?

    • Amazon Prime users get it for free (everyone else needs to fork up $20/month). Rolling out in the US over the next couple weeks.

    • After all these years…Alexa is still the most popular (sorry Siri!). Except for Gen Z (27% for Siri and 25% for Alexa). Check out CNET’s data below:

Don’t worry, I have more stats for you…

  • A comparison between Alexa, Google Home, and Siri shows that Google Home is the best at answering questions, with 93% of answers correct. Siri answers 83% of questions right, and Alexa answers 80% correctly.

  • More recent tests show that Alexa may be better than Siri at answering questions, but Google Home is still the leader.

The numbers:

  • NVIDIA reported earnings yesterday. Record full-year revenue of $130.5 billion, up 114%.

    • “Demand for Blackwell is amazing as reasoning AI adds another scaling law — increasing compute for training makes models smarter and increasing compute for long thinking makes the answer smarter,” said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA.

    • “We’ve successfully ramped up the massive-scale production of Blackwell AI supercomputers, achieving billions of dollars in sales in its first quarter. AI is advancing at light speed as agentic AI and physical AI set the stage for the next wave of AI to revolutionize the largest industries.”

Wait…why does NVIDIA matter so much? Without making it too complex…their performance is essentially a proxy for the health of the entire AI industry. If there’s more demand for their chips, it should be OK. If demand starts declining…that may be bad for investors (and serve as a warning to the industry).

You didn’t think AI was free did you?! If you want to scale to the moon, you have to go beyond the normal computer setup. We’re talking supercomputers here! Yeeah baby!

What else?

  • ElevenLabs announces Scribe

    • The world’s most accurate speech to text model?

    • “Scribe transcribes speech in 99 languages, featuring word-level timestamps, speaker diarization, and audio-event tagging—all delivered in a structured response for seamless integration.”

^Lot of big words…’diarization’ is the process of dividing an audio recording into segments based on who is speaking. It answers the question "who spoke when?".

  • FLORA (Intelligent Canvas)

    • “Every creative AI tool, thoughtfully connected.”

    • Check out this LI post from the founder for more details

  • Elicit Reports

    • “fully-automated research overviews for actual researchers, inspired by systematic reviews”

    • Remember how I focused on OpenAI’s Deep Research in yesterday’s email? Well, here’s something similar. I still believe Deep Research is better (and I personally trust it more), but similar tools are always worth monitoring.
