Bill Gates says AI is coming for 2 jobs

What's left for humans?

👋 Good morning/evening (wherever you are). It’s Wednesday.

According to The New York Times, the Trump administration is reportedly considering a ban on DeepSeek in the U.S.

Makes you wonder…how close is the AI race really? Just this Tuesday, the White House moved to further restrict Nvidia’s AI chip sales to China.

OK let’s keep going ↓

Here’s what you should know:

The numbers:

  • OpenAI is reportedly in talks to buy Windsurf for $3 billion.

  • Infinite Reality (iR), a company focused on digital media and ecommerce through extended reality (XR), artificial intelligence (AI), and other immersive technologies, announced that the company has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Touchcast, an agentic AI company, for $500 million in a combination of cash and stock.

  • AI data platform company Hammerspace announced that several venture investors have invested $100 million in growth capital in the company.

  • hellocare, which offers AI-enabled virtual care delivery for smart hospital rooms, has secured $47 million in an oversubscribed funding growth round.

  • Well, an AI-driven health engagement company, raised $30 million.

  • IUNU, a startup using AI and machine vision to monitor greenhouse efficiency, raised $20 million in new funding.

  • Doss, an AI ERP and data platform, raised $18 million in Series A funding.

  • Loti AI, a likeness protection technology startup, raised a $16.2 million Series A.

  • Deck raised a $12 million Series A round to ‘Plaid-ify’ any website using AI.

Thought starters:

Former Google CEO, Eric Schmidt:

"We believe that in the next year, the vast majority of programmers will be replaced by AI.”

“Within three to five years, we’ll have AGI.”

“And in six years, artificial superintelligence, or ASI — a computer that is smarter than the sum of all humans...”

He jokes it’s dubbed the “San Francisco consensus” because everyone who believes it lives in SF.
