Meta announced Llama 4, but people were questioning the benchmarks. The controversy got out of hand, so Ahmad (VP, Head of GenAI at Meta) posted this on X:

Here’s what you should know:

The numbers:

  • SignalFire, a data-driven venture firm, has raised $1 billion for its fifth and largest fund, which it will invest in applied AI companies.

  • Shipping giant CMA CGM and tech startup Mistral AI expect rapid productivity gains from a 100 million euro partnership. The five-year partnership, which will bring CMA CGM's AI-related spending to 500 million euros ($550 million).

  • Rumors are circulating that OpenAI is potentially buying Jony Ive and Sam Altman’s AI hardware startup. According to The Information, OpenAI could pay around $500 million for the fledgling company, called io Products.

  • Krea has raised $83 million to develop a unified platform aimed at simplifying the use of generative AI for designers and visual creatives.

  • Moonvalley, which is developing AI tools for video creation, has raised $43 million, according to an SEC filing.
