OpenAI and Google DeepMind just hit gold medal status at the 2025 International Math Olympiad.

Both teams’ models solved 5 of 6 problems, scoring 35 out of 42. That’s enough for gold.
DeepMind submitted Gemini Deep Think for official judging. OpenAI published its results and solution proofs on GitHub, reviewed by former medalists.
The news sparked debate around verification standards and what qualifies as a fair AI benchmark.
Keep in mind that only around 10 percent of 630 students usually earn gold.
